Trevarno offers a proper wander through mature trees, ornamental ponds, and enough space that you won't feel hemmed in by other visitors. The gardens flow naturally across the landscape rather than feeling too manicured, which means it works brilliantly if you want something calmer than a stately home garden.

Walkers and anyone after a gentle afternoon will find plenty here. The woodland paths are manageable for most fitness levels, though it's worth checking conditions after rain - Cornish soil can get boggy. Families with younger kids might find an hour does the trick, though if you're the type to sit on benches and actually absorb things, you could stretch it to two. History buffs should note the estate's age, but this isn't a place where you're walked through centuries of backstory.

The beauty of Trevarno for a camping holiday is that it sits nicely between the coast and the inland valleys. Stay Wild and Higher Trevaskis are both within striking distance if you're based at one of the local caravan parks - you could easily combine it with a beach morning at Praa Sands itself, which is close enough for a lunchtime detour. Opening hours and admission fees aren't entirely clear, so ringing ahead before you visit makes sense. Worth the effort though.
