Triangle Covert

A proper walk through dense woodland near Attleborough, Triangle Covert is the sort of place you stumble upon rather than plan for. The forest floor is thick with leaf litter and moss, the canopy closes in above you, and suddenly the Norfolk flatlands feel a world away. It's genuinely quiet - the kind of quiet that makes you notice birdsong.

The covert itself isn't vast, so you're looking at maybe an hour to two hours depending on how slowly you potter about. Bring decent boots; it gets boggy in patches after rain. The paths wind through mature trees and scrub, with the odd clearing offering a breather. It's not a destination in itself - more a solid half-day add-on if you're based at one of the nearby holiday parks like Applewood Countryside Holidays.

Walkers will get more from this than families with restless kids, to be honest. There's no play equipment, no visitor facilities, no interpretation boards. Just woodland. Which is rather the point. You'll spot woodland birds, the occasional fallow deer if you're lucky enough, and possibly some bluebells in spring depending on the year.

Access is free and straightforward from Attleborough. Go early on a weekday if you can - weekend footfall isn't heavy, but you'll have the place almost to yourself midweek. It's the kind of place to clear your head after a day of coastal walks or market town wandering. Proper Norfolk understated.
