The woodland at Uncleby Brow feels genuinely wild for East Yorkshire - all dense conifers and dark soil underfoot, the kind of place where you'll lose phone signal without noticing. It's a proper forest walk rather than a manicured country estate job, which is refreshing when so much of the Wolds can feel a bit managed. The plantation does what it says on the tin: you get shade, shelter, and genuinely quiet time away from the main villages around Driffield.

Walkers will find it worthwhile if you're after something to fill a morning or early afternoon. The paths are workable in decent weather, though it gets muddy after rain and the terrain is uneven enough that it's not ideal for buggies. Kids who like scrambling about and finding sticks will be entertained. Families after a gentle stroll might find it a touch relentless - there's not much in the way of views or clearings to break up the walking.

Being close to Seaways Glamping and Bugthorpe Grange, both top-rated spots, it works well as a bonus activity if you're based in the area for a week. Pair it with a walk around one of the surrounding villages - Driffield itself has decent pubs - and you've got a solid half-day sorted. Just check the ground conditions first; it can be boggy in places. Spring and early autumn are probably your best bet for a proper explore without the seasonal slog.
