Vagg's Hill Bushes

A small woodland patch just outside Trowbridge that's worth a quick walk if you're camping nearby, though calling it a destination in its own right would be generous. Vagg's Hill Bushes is exactly what the name suggests - a modest stretch of trees and scrubland offering a bit of green space and a breather from the town.

The walk itself takes no more than half an hour, so it's ideal for families with young kids who've had enough of the car or need to burn off energy before heading back to their caravan. There's nothing fancy about it - no visitor centre, no marked trails that I could find, no cafe. It's just woodland being woodland. In spring and early summer the undergrowth is thick enough to feel like you've actually stepped away from things, which is something.

This is really a slot-filler on a Trowbridge camping trip rather than a reason to book one. If you're staying at Stowford Manor Farm, which sits barely a mile away, or any of the other sites dotted around the area - Brokerswood, Widbrook Barns - then yes, pop over for a stretch. Otherwise your time would be better spent exploring the larger parks and walks Wiltshire actually does well.

Free to access, no facilities that I'm aware of. Go midweek if you want any peace and quiet.
