View Point, Bridge of Balgie

The Bridge of Balgie viewpoint sits where the river narrows and the mountains suddenly feel properly close. It's not a long stop - ten minutes if you're leisurely, five if you've got the angles right for a photo - but it's the kind of spot that justifies a slight detour when you're exploring Perthshire.

You get a straightforward view down the water towards the bridge itself, with the hills rising sharply on both sides. On a clear day it's genuinely worth pausing for. On a grey day, which is more likely in this part of Scotland, it's still moody and decent for a walk-around. The pull-off is small and informal - just space to park and wander, no facilities whatsoever.

Walkers passing through Killin will find this worthwhile as part of a longer route rather than a destination in itself. It pairs well with exploring Loch Tay itself, which is only a few minutes away, or combining it with a stay at Loch Tay Highland Lodges if you're after proper accommodation. The scenic drive alone through this bit of Tayside is half the appeal.
