It's a proper community library - the kind of place where locals actually know the librarian and regulars have their favourite reading nooks. You won't find Instagram-worthy architecture or rare manuscripts here. What you get instead is a functioning library that serves the village well, with a decent selection of books and the quiet you actually need to get some reading done.

This works best if you're staying at one of the nearby camping spots like Badgells Wood or Gatehouse Wood - then it's a useful rainy-day retreat rather than a destination in itself. It's free to visit (as public libraries are), though opening hours aren't widely advertised so ring ahead before making the trip. You're probably looking at 30 minutes to an hour maximum here unless you're after a specific title or fancy settling in with a book for the afternoon.

Meopham itself is pleasant enough for a walk around, and it's within reach of better-known attractions if you're doing a wider Kent swing. The library is genuinely worth knowing about if you're camping locally and the weather turns. Bit much to travel specifically for, but a solid backup plan.
