Warth Hill

The walk up Warth Hill is a proper proper little leg-stretcher - nothing dramatic, but exactly the sort of outing that makes sense when you're based at one of the caravan parks around Milnthorpe. It's more of a fell than a mountain, the kind of place where you can be up and back down in under two hours if you're not hanging about. The views back towards the Kent estuary are decent enough on a clear day, though I won't pretend you'll be blown away by what you see. What actually matters is the walk itself - straightforward paths, nothing technical, and enough of a climb to feel like you've earned a rest. Families with children aged eight upwards would manage this fine. Anyone after serious elevation or dramatic vistas should look elsewhere, but if you're staying at Little Acre or one of the other holiday parks in the area and want a gentle morning ramble without driving, this does the job. The ground can be boggy in patches after rain, so decent boots aren't a luxury. Free to walk, naturally. Allow an hour and a half to two hours depending on pace and how long you linger at the top. It's the sort of walk that fills a slot in a week of Lake District pottering rather than being a destination in itself.
