About Wedgehook Wood
The wood itself isn't vast - you're looking at a couple of hours maximum to explore the main paths - but it's dense enough to feel like proper wilderness. Trees everywhere, dappled light, the works. Families with primary-school aged kids will get decent entertainment here; the paths are manageable and there's enough to poke about and discover. Older teenagers might find it a touch quiet unless they're genuinely into nature. Walkers and anyone after a bit of woodland peace will absolutely rate it.
There's no visitor centre or facilities that I can establish, so this is basic forestry - bring water, wear decent boots after rain because it does get boggy in patches. Free to access, as far as I can tell, which is refreshing.
Parked at Cotswold View Caravan & Camping Site just four or so miles away? You could knock this out before lunch and still have the afternoon for Oxford itself. It's exactly the sort of quick woodland fix that makes a park-based holiday feel less like you're stuck in one spot. Worth the detour if you're after some greenery, though don't expect dramatic vistas - this is intimate woodland walking, not panoramic views.
