Wee Torry

The walk up Wee Torry is over before you know it, which is either brilliant or slightly disappointing depending on what you were hoping for. This modest peak in Clackmannanshire rises to just 408 metres, making it a proper quick-fire outing from Stirling - the kind of thing you can knock out before lunch without breaking a sweat.

You get genuine views across the Forth Valley once you're up there, though "views" is doing the heavy lifting here. On a clear day it's worth the walk; in cloud cover, well, you're mainly looking at your boots. The ascent itself is straightforward enough, nothing that'll trouble anyone with reasonable fitness. It's the sort of hill that works brilliantly if you've got restless kids or you're after a proper walk without committing the whole day to it.

Wee Torry works nicely as part of a wider Clackmannanshire ramble rather than a destination in itself. Stirling is close enough that you could easily combine this with exploring the town itself. If you're based at Witches Craig Caravan & Camping Park or Highland Gateway Glamping just down the road, this makes for a solid morning activity before settling back for the afternoon.

Free to visit, naturally. Allow an hour to ninety minutes depending on your pace and how long you linger on top. It's not dramatic, but it's genuine hill walking that doesn't demand you spend half your holiday getting there and back.
