Weedon Walkies - dog exercise field

Your dog will probably have a better time here than you will, and that's exactly the point. Weedon Walkies is a proper off-lead exercise field near Wingrave where dogs can actually run without a lead - a rarity that makes dog owners genuinely emotional. The reserve itself is nothing fancy: open grassland with some wooded edges, the kind of place that looks small on the map but feels spacious once you're in it.

It's brilliant for anyone with a high-energy dog who's sick of lead walks. Spaniels, collies, even the chaotic lurcher types - they can properly exhaust themselves here. You'll get a solid 30 to 45 minutes of real exercise, which translates to a peaceful afternoon at home. The field gets muddy in winter, which is part of the appeal if you've got a dog that specialises in getting filthy.

If you're staying at Wingbury Farm Glamping or Chiltern Yurts, Weedon Walkies works as a morning activity before heading elsewhere - it's compact enough that you won't want to linger for hours, and close enough not to eat into your day. Just don't expect amenities. There's no café, no facilities really. Bring water for the dog, wear appropriate footwear, and accept that you'll leave with muddy paws on your jeans.

Best visited early morning or late afternoon to avoid the crowds. Spring and summer are pleasant, though autumn's probably the sweet spot - cool enough that dogs don't overheat, but not yet a boggy mess.
