West Nab

The walk up West Nab takes about forty minutes from the car park, and it's steep enough that you'll feel your legs working but not so brutal that it'll defeat casual hikers. The peak itself sits at 1,066 feet and commands proper views across the Peak District - on a clear day you can see for miles. It's a straightforward ascent with good paths most of the way, though the final push gets rockier and more exposed.

You'll pass through moorland and gritstone outcrops that give the walk character without feeling overcomplicated. The summit's modest - just a cluster of stones - but the vantage point makes it worthwhile. Walkers get the most from this one. Families with younger kids might find the climb taxing on the way back down; teenagers and fit adults will crack on without fuss.

Sheffield's close enough that you could combine this with other Peak District walks if you're staying at one of the local campsites - East Peak Campsite is only 3.2 miles away, Fox Hagg Farm just over four miles. If you're based at any of the surrounding farms like Wyming Brook or High Lea, West Nab makes a solid half-day outing.

It's free to walk, open year-round, though avoid winter if the ground's icy - the descent gets tricky. Spring and autumn are genuinely lovely up here. Allow ninety minutes return if you're taking it easy and soaking in the views. This isn't Instagram-famous, which means you'll likely have the place mostly to yourself.
