The Westfield Christmas Lights transform this corner of Sussex into something genuinely worth a detour if you're staying nearby in Hastings. We're talking coordinated displays that actually take effort - none of that two-string-of-bulbs nonsense - with whole front gardens done up to the nines.

It's a proper family outing, the kind where you pile everyone in the car, maybe grab a hot chocolate from a local café in Hastings first, then drive or walk round spotting the best efforts. Kids love it because there's an element of treasure hunt to it, and frankly, adults enjoy the schadenfreude of rating which displays are genuinely good versus which are just... a lot.

Timing matters. Go after dark obviously, but December evenings around 6 or 7pm hit the sweet spot - lights are proper visible, not so late that you're freezing your socks off. Early December tends to have fewer people than the frantic week before Christmas, if that matters to you.

If you're camped at Beech Estate or The Original Hut Company nearby, this slots in nicely as an evening activity without eating into a full day. It's free, takes about an hour to wander round depending on how thorough you want to be, and needs zero advance booking.
