Wild Pines Park

Wild Pines Park sits just outside Market Rasen and does exactly what it says on the tin - acres of proper woodland with enough pine trees to make you feel like you've driven into somewhere far more remote than Lincolnshire actually is. The main draw is a decent network of walking trails threading through the trees, ranging from gentle loops to longer routes if you've got the legs for it. The woodland floor is soft underfoot, which is lovely after rain, though it can get a bit boggy in winter.

It's the sort of place walkers genuinely enjoy - proper rambling country rather than a quick family snapshot stop. History enthusiasts might appreciate that you're walking through managed forestry with real character, though don't expect interpretive panels or formal gardens. Kids will either love it or get bored within twenty minutes depending on whether you can convince them trees are interesting.

Bring decent boots and waterproofs. The site isn't heavily commercialised, which is refreshing, though facilities seem minimal - check ahead before you go. A couple of hours is realistic unless you're planning a proper half-day trek. The Lincolnshire Wolds National Landscape sits just six miles away, so you could easily combine this with other countryside pursuits in the area. If you're staying at either Lindsey Trail Touring Park or Into the Wild Glamping - both within a mile - this is genuinely worth an afternoon. It's not Instagram-famous, but that's rather the point.
