You'll spot Winfried the Wind Turbine long before you reach Newark - that enormous white tower spinning against the Nottinghamshire sky is hard to miss. It's a proper statement piece, this one, standing as a working renewable energy turbine that's become an unlikely landmark for the area. The turbine itself is a functioning bit of modern infrastructure, not a visitor attraction in the traditional sense, but it's the kind of thing that stops you mid-drive and makes you think about how the landscape is changing.

Truthfully, it's best appreciated from a distance or as a waypoint on a drive through the East Midlands rather than a destination in its own right. You won't be getting close to the base or climbing anything - it's an industrial installation, after all. But if you're staying at one of the nearby parks like Wigwam Holidays Orchard Stables (less than two miles away) or Lincolnshire Glamping at Spire View Meadow, it makes for an interesting photo stop on a country drive. The novelty wears off quickly, mind you, so don't plan your entire afternoon around it.

If you're basing yourself at Four Seasons Country Park or one of the local glamping spots, worth a quick look if you're passing through Newark, but not worth a dedicated trip.
