Wood of Ythsie

The Wood of Ythsie sits just outside Ellon in Aberdeenshire, a proper slice of Scottish woodland that feels a world away from the rolling farmland surrounding it. This is ancient forest - the kind of place where the trees have been standing for centuries, and the undergrowth is thick enough that you genuinely lose sight of the wider world within minutes of entering.

It's a walker's wood rather than a destination for sitting about.
