Yoel Mouth

The stretch of sand at Yoel Mouth, just south of Bude, catches you off guard with how quiet it is. Most visitors stick to the more famous beaches around here, which means you often get the place more or less to yourself - a rare thing on the Cornish coast these days.

It's a proper little cove with decent golden sand and good access from the cliff path above. The beach itself is fairly sheltered, making it workable on windier days when other spots get hammered. Rock pools appear at low tide, which keeps younger kids occupied for a solid hour if you're lucky. The walk down isn't arduous, though you'll want decent shoes.

Walkers and families do well here. It's the sort of place where you can actually find a quiet spot to read a book without someone's beach umbrella blocking the sun. Low tide reveals more sand and gives you room to breathe. High tide compresses things a bit, so timing matters.

The nearest proper facilities are in Bude, a short drive away, so pack what you need. There's no fee to access the beach itself. Allow a couple of hours if you're combining it with a coastal walk - the cliff path connections are decent. If you're staying at Atlantic Horizons or Wooda Farm, both close by, this makes an easy morning jaunt without the circus of the bigger beaches. Worth the detour if you value peace over facilities.
