York Golf Range

The driving range sits just outside York, offering a proper workout for your golf swing without the commitment of a full eighteen holes. You get a bucket of balls, a mat, and a line of targets stretching into the distance - straightforward stuff, but effective if you want to loosen up before tackling a proper course or simply fancy an hour hitting balls.

Golfers will obviously get the most from it, whether you're warming up for a round elsewhere in Yorkshire or just keeping your technique sharp during a park holiday. Non-golfers won't find much to do here, to be honest. It's a working range, not a leisure attraction, so don't expect a café or views worth writing home about.

The real appeal is convenience. You're just a short drive from York itself, and if you're staying at one of the nearby parks - Flaxton Meadows is barely two miles away, Fox Hill only slightly further - you can knock some balls around without straying far. York Meadows Caravan & Camping Park, about five miles south, is also close enough for a quick trip if the weather's decent and you've got the golf itch.

Check their website for current rates and opening hours before you go. Most ranges charge per bucket, and it's usually reasonable. Allow an hour if you're taking it seriously, less if you just fancy a quick session. Best visited when it's not raining - standing on a range in drizzle loses its appeal quickly.
