Yorkshire Heart

Yorkshire Heart is a proper working brewery just outside Tadcaster, and unlike some visitor attractions that feel a bit forced, this one actually makes something people want to drink. You get to see the full production line - from the brewing vats to the packaging - and the staff know what they're talking about, which makes a refreshing change.

The brewery does tastings, and if you're into beer at all, it's worth an hour of your time. Even if you're not particularly bothered about IPA versus stout, watching the scale of what goes into a pint is genuinely interesting. The shop lets you stock up on bottles to take back to your caravan or glamping pod.

Tadcaster itself has two other breweries - John Smith's and Samuel Smith's - so if you're making a day of it, you could hit multiple places. That said, Yorkshire Heart feels less corporate and more like people who actually care about what they're brewing.

Wighill Park Glamping is only five miles away, which makes this a natural fit if you're staying in the area. It's not a massive operation - you won't spend half a day here - but it's a solid stop rather than something you'd regret. Go on a weekday if you can; weekends get busier and the whole experience feels a bit rushed.
