Skelwith Fold is a nice campsite and with small improvements it could be perfect. The pitches are mostly level and all gravel. The site has lots of trees and we watched the tawny owls at dusk. The facilities block is kept warm and the showers are adjustable and the water hot. It is a pity they've gone down the push button route but more annoying is just 2 small hooks in each shower. Location is gorgeous, and easy to get to as long as you concentrate on the little turnings on your way out of Ambleside! Staff are all really friendly and helpful. Beautiful secure site, set in woodland. Great pitch size, brilliant park / play area. Good shop & surprisingly decent prices! Very helpful staff.
