There's an actual aircraft that's been converted into a gallery space in Kent - which sounds daft until you walk inside and realise someone's done something properly clever with it. The fuselage has been repurposed to display art and exhibitions, which gives the whole experience a wonderfully surreal quality. You're standing inside a plane that's never going to fly again, surrounded by paintings or installations or whatever's on rotation.

It works best for people who like their culture with a side of novelty. Families with kids who are obsessed with planes will find it mildly interesting for twenty minutes, though it's not exactly a theme park ride. Art enthusiasts might get more out of it - there's something about the confined space and the surreal context that makes you look at pieces differently than you would in a white cube gallery.

The location is near Sheerness, which puts it within spitting distance of several holiday parks - Shurland Dale is less than a mile away, and Central Beach and Harts are both around three miles out. It's the sort of thing worth slotting into a day if you're already staying nearby, rather than making a special trip from further afield. Admission details aren't entirely clear from a distance, so best ring ahead before you go. Allow an hour maximum, unless there's a major exhibition on.
