Walking into Alder Wood near Kettering feels like stepping off the main road entirely. This is proper woodland - the kind with actual trees doing their job, not a manicured nature reserve with laminated information boards at every turn. It won't blow your mind with dramatic vistas, and it's not the destination that justifies a special trip from further afield. But if you're based locally for a week, it's the kind of place you'd actually return to, which says more than any amount of hype ever could.
