Allt y Graig

The forest floor at Allt y Graig is thick with moss and last season's leaves, the kind of place where you half expect to spot a red kite overhead. It's a proper woodland walk inland from Aberaeron, and the main draw here is straightforward: decent trails through mixed forest with enough elevation to feel like you've actually done something, without needing mountaineering equipment.

You get woodland walks of varying length depending how much time you've got. Some visitors do it in under an hour, others spend half the day wandering the trails and just sitting on logs listening to the trees. It's the sort of place where kids either love the freedom to explore or get bored after the first twenty minutes - depends entirely on whether they're the type who'll chase insects and climb on fallen trees. Groups of walkers get the most from it, particularly in autumn when the colours turn interesting.

The nearest proper town is Aberaeron, which sits just down the road with actual cafes and a proper harbour if you need breakfast or lunch. If you're staying at Camping on the Farm just 0.7 miles away, you could easily pop over for an afternoon. The woodland itself is free to access - no gates, no fees that I could find. Go early if it's been wet, as the paths get boggy, and bring decent boots.

It's solid for a park break but not a headline act on its own. Think of it as the 45-minute walk you do between other things, not the reason you've driven to Ceredigion.
