Sheep tracks wind up through bracken and gorse to this 274-metre summit overlooking the Ceredigion coast. From Aberaeron, it's a proper walk inland that rewards you with sweeping views across Cardigan Bay on clear days. The paths aren't waymarked, so you'll need decent navigation skills and a proper OS map.

Hikers who enjoy a challenge will love the peace up here - it's far less trampled than the coastal path below. Families with young children might find it heavy going, especially if the weather turns. The climb takes about an hour from the nearest parking spot, longer if you're picking your way carefully through the rougher sections.

Views from the top stretch from the Llyn Peninsula north to Pembrokeshire's headlands south. On a good day, you can spot Aberaeron's harbour nestled in the coast below. The descent can be slippery after rain, so proper walking boots are essential.

Staying at any of the nearby parks like Aeron Coast or Wide Horizons puts you within easy driving distance of the trailhead. It's a decent half-day outing if you're based along this stretch of coast, though you'll want to check the weather forecast first - mist rolls in quickly here and can turn a pleasant walk into a navigation nightmare.
