About Anthony Hill
The summit itself isn't dramatic - no cairn, no trig point, just moorland that opens up nicely on a clear day. On a good one you can see across to Axe Edge and beyond. On a rubbish one, frankly, you're walking in cloud wondering why you bothered. Time it right though, and it's a solid morning's outing from any of the caravan parks within striking distance - Buxton Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite is barely a mile away, making it perfect if you're based there for a few days.
Histor buffs might find the industrial history interesting - there's old quarrying evidence up here - but this isn't a heritage site with plaques and interpretation boards. It's a walker's hill, plain and simple. Families with young kids will struggle with the gradient. Serious hikers will finish in under two hours and want something longer. It slots nicely into a longer Peak ramble though, linking with nearby ridges if you've got the time and energy.
Free to access, obviously. Go early or late to dodge other walkers, and bring waterproofs - the weather changes fast up here.
