Ash Copse

Just outside Chipping Norton, Ash Copse is a proper woodland walk that won't take up your whole afternoon but delivers exactly what you need if you're craving a bit of green after days on the caravan site. The forest is small enough to explore in under an hour, but the paths wind through decent ancient woodland - the sort of place where you might spot deer if you're lucky and quiet enough.

It's ideal for families with kids who want a gentle ramble without the commitment of a full hike. The paths are straightforward, though they can get muddy after rain, so decent footwear matters. Dog walkers absolutely love this spot, and it's the kind of woods where you'll rarely bump into crowds, even on weekends.

If you're staying at Cotswold View or Cotswolds Caravan and Camping, you're basically on the doorstep - less than two miles from either site. Even from the Chipping Norton Camping and Caravanning Club Site five miles away, it's a quick drive for a proper forest break. The nearby market town of Chipping Norton itself is worth a potter around afterwards for lunch or a browse of the independent shops.

There's nothing flashy here. No visitor centre, no café, no gift shop. Just trees, paths, and a bit of peace. Free to access, no fixed hours that we can find - just turn up and walk. Brilliant for clearing your head between days at Cotswold Hills Country Park or anywhere else in the area.
