The reservoir sits just outside Bridgwater, making it an easy detour if you're camping nearby. Mill Farm is closest at less than two miles, though Secret Valley and Moorhouse offer better reviews if you're willing to drive a touch further. For birdwatchers and photographers, this place earns its keep. The water attracts all manner of wildfowl, and on quieter mornings you'll have the place virtually to yourself.

Walkers will find decent paths around the perimeter - nothing strenuous, just gentle circuits with decent views across the water. It's the sort of place where a two-hour wander feels restorative rather than demanding. Families with young kids do okay here, though it's not a splashy destination with facilities and cafes. Bring binoculars if birdwatching interests you, and expect muddy patches after rain.

There's no entrance fee and no set hours, so you can visit whenever suits. Early morning or dusk rewards you with better light and fewer people. It won't fill an entire day - slot it alongside other Bridgwater attractions or as a breathing space between park activities. Real Somerset, quietly done.
