Bamboozeleum

You'll find yourself face-to-face with an absurdly tall structure made entirely of bamboo somewhere in the Highland hills near Aviemore. The Bamboozeleum is exactly what it sounds like - a quirky, somewhat baffling landmark that seems to exist largely because someone thought, why not? It's the sort of thing that makes you squint at the road signs to check you're not hallucinating.

What you actually do here is walk around it, take photos, and feel a bit bemused. The structure itself is the attraction - there's no exhibition inside or experience to speak of. It's tall, it's made of bamboo, and frankly it's rather striking against the Scottish landscape, even if you can't quite work out why it exists. You'll need maybe fifteen minutes tops, unless you're one of those people who photographs every angle.

Families passing through might find it worth a quick stop, though young kids won't get much from it beyond "that's weird, Dad". Walkers on the nearby trails could make it a waypoint rather than a destination. It's free and requires no planning - just pull over when you spot it.

If you're staying at Highland Glen Holiday Park, it's barely more than a twenty-minute drive, so could slot into an afternoon mooching about the area. Don't make a special trip from Aviemore, but if you're already exploring the glens, it's different enough to warrant a quick stop.
