Bangor Library sits right in the heart of this university town, offering families a brilliant refuge when North Wales weather takes a turn for the worse. The building itself is modern and well-lit, with a dedicated children's section that's kept my lot entertained for a good hour while I caught up on holiday reading. Local history sections are particularly strong here, packed with Welsh-language materials and plenty on Anglesey's past. University students make up much of the crowd during term time, but summer sees more families taking advantage of the decent opening hours. Tuesday and Thursday evenings until 6pm work well for holiday stays, though Saturday mornings can get busy with locals. What makes this place useful for holiday makers is the location - right in Bangor's shopping area, so you can combine a library visit with picking up supplies or grabbing lunch. Kids appreciate the computers and quiet study areas, while parents get a proper break from constant sightseeing. If you're staying at nearby parks like Plas Coch or Kingsbridge Caravan Park, it's an easy drive into town and makes for a sensible rainy day backup plan. Not exactly thrilling, but sometimes that's exactly what you need.
