Beinn Fhada NE Top

Getting to the northeast top of Beinn Fhada means a proper hill walk from the Ballachulish area, and it's genuinely worth the effort if you're any sort of walker. The peak itself sits at a decent height with views across the Highlands that stretch for miles on a clear day - you're looking out over lochs and glens with that particular shade of grey-blue Scottish light that makes everything look a bit dramatic.

This is very much a hillwalker's destination rather than a casual stroll. You'll need decent boots, a map, and the fitness to handle the climb - it's not technical scrambling, but it's steep enough to get your heart going. Most people allow three to four hours for the round trip from the road. The views are the thing here: proper mountain views, the kind that remind you why people move to the Highlands.

Families with very young children should probably look elsewhere, but teenagers who actually walk will find it rewarding. The midges can be dreadful in summer, so aim for spring or autumn if you can. It's free, obviously - it's a Scottish mountain.
