BETLEY SHOW

Every year since 1948, Betley Show has turned up in the same corner of Cheshire with the sort of agricultural pageantry that defines summer in the rural North West. It's a proper country day out - livestock competitions, craft stalls, vintage machinery, and enough bunting to make you believe in simpler times. The show ground fills with farmers, families, and the kind of people who genuinely care about prize-winning prize-winning cattle and hand-knitted blankets.

You'll spend a good three to four hours here if you're the type to linger over the pens and chat to the exhibitors. Children usually get a decent spell out of it - there's activity space, ring events happening throughout the day, and enough novelty to keep them entertained without being overly commercialised. It's not a theme park substitute, but it gives you a real sense of what rural Cheshire is actually about.

The show runs annually and is free admission - check closer to the date for exact timings and whether parking charges apply. Crewe is your nearest town for supplies, though you're better off arriving with a picnic. If you're based at Tipsy Tree Glamping, it's practically on your doorstep at just over two miles away. The Willows Touring Park is a bit further at six miles, but still close enough for a day trip. Best attended on a clear day - rain turns the fields into proper mud, which is authentic but not entirely pleasant.
