Dark waters reflect the sky above this small lake just outside Worcester, where local anglers have been casting their lines for decades. Black Pool earned its name from the peaty depths that give it an almost mirror-like surface on still days, though don't expect crystal-clear waters for swimming.

Fishing enthusiasts will find this the main draw, with decent stocks of carp, roach, and perch. The banks are well-maintained but not overly manicured, keeping that proper countryside feel. A gentle walk around the perimeter takes about twenty minutes, making it suitable for families with younger children who might get restless on longer hikes.

Bird watchers often spot herons standing motionless at the water's edge, along with the usual suspects of ducks and moorhens. The surrounding woodland provides decent shelter, though it's hardly spectacular scenery - more pleasant than breathtaking.

Staying at nearby parks like The Wharf or Mill House puts you within easy reach for an early morning fishing session or afternoon stroll. Worth an hour if you're in the area, but probably not worth a special journey from Worcester itself.
