Highstank Pool

Highstank Pool is a modest water body just outside Worcester - the sort of place locals know about but most visitors drive straight past. It's a decent spot for a quiet walk and a bit of birdwatching if you're staying at one of the nearby caravan parks, but don't expect drama. The pool itself is fairly small, fringed with reeds and the odd bit of overgrown vegetation. On a good day you'll spot waterfowl - mallards, coots, the usual suspects - and if you're lucky, something more interesting. The walk around it takes maybe thirty minutes at a leisurely pace. There's no café, no visitor centre, no facilities to speak of. What you get is peace and perhaps a bit of green relief between caravan pitches. Families with young children might find half an hour here enough before restlessness sets in. Keen birdwatchers or photographers with patience will get more from it. Given you're staying at Mill House, The Wharf, Twin Oaks or one of the other parks clustered nearby - all within five miles or so - it's worth a morning visit as part of a broader pootle around the area rather than a destination in itself. Time your visit for early morning or dusk when wildlife is most active. Free access, obviously, since there's nowhere to pay. Better on overcast days when the light's soft and the birds are more active.
