Blake's Cottage Blue Plaque

Just a blue circular plaque on a cottage wall marks where William Blake spent his final creative years in the early 1800s. The visionary poet and artist lived here in what was then the village of Felpham, now swallowed up by Bognor Regis's suburban sprawl.

Blink and you'll miss it really - there's not much more than the commemorative marker to see. Blake wrote some of his most famous works here, including parts of 'Jerusalem', but the cottage itself is private property so you can't peek inside. Literature enthusiasts will appreciate the pilgrimage, especially knowing this is where he penned those stirring lines about 'dark Satanic mills'.

Families staying at nearby Butlins Bognor Regis or Haven Church Farm Holiday Village could easily drive past on their way to the beach. It's literally a two-minute stop - park up, read the plaque, snap a photo if you're that way inclined, then carry on. Kids will be utterly baffled unless they're studying the Romantics at school.

Free to view any time since it's just on the street. Best combined with a proper walk along Felpham's seafront, which is far more rewarding than hunting down this rather modest literary landmark. Worth knowing about if you're in the area, but hardly worth a special trip from Chichester Lakeside Holiday Park or the other nearby sites.
