Blithfield Anglers

The reservoir at Blithfield sits quietly on the Staffordshire countryside south of Uttoxeter, a proper working water supply that's also become a haven for anglers and casual visitors after a bit of peace. The water stretches across the landscape with decent tree cover on the banks - not dramatic, but restful in the way that reservoirs often are once you stop expecting them to be pretty.

If you're after a fishing trip, this is the draw. The site's managed by local angling clubs and there's a real community feel to it - you'll see regulars with their kit set up for the day, which speaks to the fishing quality here. Non-anglers can walk the perimeter path or just sit by the water, though it's not a destination in itself. The landscape is gently rolling rather than spectacular.

You don't need much time here unless you're fishing - an hour's walk around the water is plenty if you're camping nearby and fancy a leg-stretch. Since there's no formal visitor centre or paid admission that we're aware of, it's the sort of place you turn up to and explore. The banks can be muddy after rain, so proper footwear matters.

Stay at any of the local parks - Silver Trees or Chase Camping at Tackeroo are both within a few miles - and you've got a useful spot for a morning walk before heading to Cannock Chase proper. On its own? Fine for anglers. For everyone else, it's a pleasant pitstop rather than a reason to visit.
