The Blow Glass Gallery sits just outside Inverness and lets you watch craftspeople shape molten glass in real time - it's hypnotic, honestly. The heat coming off the furnaces is proper intense, and if you time it right, you might catch someone pulling a vase from the kiln or working on a commission.

The gallery side stocks what they've made: vases, bowls, ornaments, the usual glasswork suspects. Prices reflect the handmade nature, so it's not somewhere to grab a fiver souvenir. Worth a browse though, especially if you fancy supporting actual makers rather than factory-produced stuff.

It works best as a 45-minute detour rather than a half-day commitment. Families with kids over about eight will hold attention; younger ones might lose interest once the initial wow factor wears off. History buffs won't find much here - this is about contemporary craft, not heritage.
