Breakheart Hill

The highest point in Bracknell Forest isn't exactly dramatic - Breakheart Hill tops out at 127 metres, which means it's more of a gentle rise than a proper summit. That said, if you're staying at one of the caravan parks dotted around Warfield or Chertsey, it's a decent walk and offers proper views across the Thames Valley toward Windsor.

Getting up here takes about twenty minutes from the car park, following woodland trails that meander through beech and oak. The landscape is soft, rolling stuff - nothing that'll leave you breathless, but satisfying in its own understated way. Families with younger kids will find it manageable; walkers who've tackled the Cotswolds might feel it's a bit tame for the fuss.

The summit itself is unremarkable - a clearing with a benchmark rather than anything grand - but the vantage point across the forest canopy has its charm. On a clear day you can see far enough to make the climb worthwhile. It's the sort of place that works well as part of a longer woodland circuit rather than a destination in itself.

If you're based at Cranbourne Hall or Chertsey Caravan Park, this pairs nicely with the broader walking network through Bracknell Forest. Go early morning when the woodland's quiet and you've got a chance at decent light through the trees. Expect to spend ninety minutes if you're taking it slowly and stopping for views.
