Broom Hill

The walk up Broom Hill won't take you long, but on a clear day the views across Perthshire make it well worth the effort. It's a modest peak near Blairgowrie - nothing dramatic, nothing that'll leave you gasping - but the sort of place that rewards a couple of hours of your time if you're staying in the area.

The hill itself sits above the village of Comrie, and the approach is straightforward enough for most walkers. You're looking at a gentle climb with proper views opening up as you gain height. The surrounding landscape rolls away in all directions - moorland, farmland, distant peaks. On a crisp morning before the clouds roll in, it's genuinely lovely.

This is a good shout for families who want something short and achievable, or anyone staying at the nearby holiday parks - Comrie Holiday Park and Twenty Shilling Wood are practically on the doorstep - who fancies getting the legs moving without committing to a full day in the hills. Walkers passing through the Perthshire region won't find it essential, but it's a decent waypoint if you're exploring the area around Comrie Croft or Glenshee Glamping further out.

Allow an hour to ninety minutes for the climb and a poke around the top. Go early if you can - the weather in Tayside can turn quickly, and morning light here is properly worth it. There's no visitor infrastructure to speak of, so bring water and pack a decent map. Free, naturally, and open whenever you fancy the walk.
