Builth Wells Swimming Pool

The pool sits right in Builth Wells town centre, which is handy if you're camped at Penmaenau Farm or Celtic Woodland just down the road. It's a proper local facility - indoor swimming for when the Welsh weather decides to be difficult, which is often. You get a decent-sized main pool plus a shallower area for younger kids learning their strokes. Nothing fancy, but that's rather the point. It's functional, well-maintained, and genuinely useful if you're staying in the area for more than a day or two.

Families will find it invaluable on a rainy afternoon, particularly those with young children who need to burn off energy. Older kids might find it a bit small after an hour, depending on what they're into. The water's warm enough, changing facilities are adequate, and it's the sort of place locals actually use rather than somewhere that's been gussied up for tourists.

I'd suggest ringing ahead to check current admission prices and opening hours - the information wasn't available when we looked - but it's clearly a community asset rather than a commercial venture, so it's unlikely to be expensive. Allow an hour to two hours depending on how serious the swimmers are. If you're based at any of the caravan parks within five miles, it's worth knowing about.
