Timing-wise, spring and autumn are when it comes alive - bluebells one season, rich colour the other. Summer can feel claustrophobic under all that green. If you're staying at nearby Wakestone & Wild Glamping, it's a solid option for a morning walk, though there are probably more rewarding spots within striking distance of Petworth itself.
