Byatt's Brewery sits just outside Coventry, and if you're staying at one of the nearby caravan parks - Hollyfast is closest at under three miles - it's exactly the sort of stop that turns a park holiday into something with real character. The brewery's a proper working operation, not some sanitised visitor attraction, which means you get to see actual beer being made rather than just a gift shop with a tour route.

What you'll find depends on opening hours and whether they do tours on the day you visit - this isn't the kind of place with a slick booking system. Ring ahead. If they're running, you'll typically get shown around the production floor, learn what goes into their brews, and end up in a tasting room where the real business happens. Expect to spend an hour, maybe ninety minutes if they're chatty.

It's best suited to adults who actually care about beer rather than families with young kids in tow. The machinery's interesting enough, but it's not a theme park. Younger teenagers might enjoy it if they're into craft beer or brewing science, but toddlers will get bored quick.

After Byatt's, Hollyfast Caravan Park makes sense as a base - it's well-rated and puts you in striking distance of Coventry's actual sights. 5 Ways Lakes is a bit further but still reasonable if Hollyfast is booked. Avon Wild Camping, a touch further still, suits the outdoorsy types who don't mind roughing it slightly.
