Carminowe Creek

The creek cuts through the Cornish landscape like someone's drawn a line with a pencil - narrow, winding, and proper atmospheric. You're essentially looking at a tidal inlet that's carving its way through woodland and farmland, the kind of place where the water rises and falls twice a day with almost theatrical timing.

It's less a destination and more a reason to get out walking. The surrounding countryside around here rewards a proper explore - you'll find yourself on narrow paths with overhanging trees, occasional glimpses of the water below, and that particular Cornish silence you get when you're inland enough to miss the sea noise but still smell the salt air.

Bringing kids? They'll spend twenty minutes looking at the water and spotting crabs, then want to move on. It's not a splash-about sort of creek. Serious walkers and photography types will find more to engage them - the light through the trees in late afternoon is genuinely lovely, and the tidal shifts mean different moods depending when you visit.

There's no formal visitor infrastructure as far as I can tell - no car park, no café, no entrance fee. You access it through the landscape around it. The Secret Garden Glamping site sits reasonably close if you're using that as your base, making Carminowe a natural addition to a walking loop rather than a standalone trip. Allow an hour or so, but don't expect facilities. Come for the walk, not the destination itself.
