Carnysgubor

The walk up Carnysgubor rewards you with proper views across Pembrokeshire's rolling countryside. It's not a massive peak - you're looking at a decent hill rather than a mountain - but that's precisely why it works so well as a half-day outing from any of the nearby campsites around Ganol.

You get the satisfaction of a summit without spending your whole afternoon on your feet. The terrain is straightforward enough for families with older kids, though younger ones might find the climb a bit of a slog. The real appeal is standing at the top, taking in the sweep of the landscape stretching out in all directions. On a clear day it's genuinely worth the effort.

If you're camped at Rhosson Ganol or one of the other sites within spitting distance, this makes an excellent morning walk before heading back for lunch. Pair it with a wander through the quieter parts of Pembrokeshire and you've got a solid day sorted. The area's not heaving with tourists either, which is refreshing.

There's no visitor centre or facilities at the summit itself - just you, the views, and the Pembrokeshire air. Allow a couple of hours from Ganol depending on your pace. It's free to access, naturally, and you can head up pretty much any time. Best avoided in foul weather when visibility drops to nothing, but that's true of any hill walk.
