Caroline Grove

Caroline Grove is a proper woodland walk just outside Pembroke, the kind of place locals know well but visitors often miss entirely. The forest floor is thick with moss and fallen leaves, and the canopy does a good job of blocking out the world. You're looking at a straightforward woodland ramble here - nothing dramatic, no viewpoints that'll make you gasp, just trees, quiet, and the occasional sound of birds.

It's ideal for families with younger kids who need a gentle leg-stretch during a Pembrokeshire holiday, or anyone after a peaceful hour away from the coast. The walk is flat enough that you won't hear complaints about steep bits, though expect muddy patches after rain. Allow an hour if you're taking your time, half that if you're just after a quick loop.

The real value of Caroline Grove is its proximity to the caravan parks dotted around Pembroke - Sky Meadow, Parke Farm, and Windmill Hill are all within a couple of miles, making it a natural spot to burn off some energy before heading back to the campsite. It's free, as far as we can tell, and there's no formal visitor infrastructure, so come prepared with decent footwear.

If you're basing yourself at one of the nearby parks, this works well as a morning wander before pushing on to the bigger attractions - Tenby's beaches, the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, or Bosherston Lakes if you fancy something with more visual interest.
