Cefn Glan y Bedw

The walk up Cefn Glan y Bedw is a proper workout, but you're rewarded with views across Cardigan Bay that genuinely take your breath away - partly from the climb, partly from what's in front of you. This isn't a casual stroll. The peak sits above Aberystwyth, and on a clear day you can trace the coastline for miles, watching the landscape drop away beneath you.

It's the sort of walk that appeals to anyone who actually enjoys walking, rather than just saying they do. Families with older kids will manage it fine, but younger ones might find the steep sections tedious. Allow a good two hours for the round trip if you're taking your time. The summit itself isn't dramatic - no cairn, no dramatic drop - but the sense of having earned the view is real.

Timing matters. Early morning or late afternoon light transforms the bay, and you'll avoid the midday scramble. Weather changes fast up here, so check conditions before heading out.
