Church Ruins

Stone walls rise from well-tended grass, their Gothic arches framing nothing but sky. These church ruins just outside Huntingdon offer a proper slice of medieval atmosphere without the coach parties or entrance fees. The remaining walls stand tall enough to give you a real sense of the building's former grandeur, with some lovely carved stonework still visible around the doorways and windows.

History buffs will appreciate the architectural details - you can still make out where the nave met the chancel, and the font base remains intact. Families might find it a bit limited unless paired with a longer walk or picnic, though kids do seem to enjoy clambering about the lower sections of wall.

Allow about half an hour to wander round and soak up the atmosphere. The site appears to be freely accessible, making it an easy stop if you're staying at one of the nearby holiday parks like Long Island Lake or Roseberry Tourist Park. It works well as part of a countryside ramble rather than a destination in itself - the sort of place that rewards those who stumble across it while exploring the Cambridgeshire lanes.
