Cleveleys Promenade

The promenade at Cleveleys stretches along the Lancashire coast with proper views across the bay, and it's genuinely one of the better walks in this part of Fleetwood. You get a decent mix of open grassland, salt marsh, and shingle - the kind of place where you actually see something changing with the seasons rather than just walking the same tarmac loop.

Wildlife-wise, it's legitimate. Waders and wildfowl show up depending on when you visit, and the mudflats attract birdwatchers who know what they're doing. The walk itself is flat and straightforward, which means families with younger kids won't struggle, but it also means older children might find it a bit samey after an hour or so. It's the sort of reserve where you go for the birds or the peace and quiet, not for dramatic views.

If you're staying at one of the nearby parks - Haven Cala Gran is barely a mile away - this works as a morning outing before heading elsewhere. The Broadwater Holiday Park is similarly close if you want a proper walk that doesn't require getting in the car. Weather matters here though. A grey day in November is moody and fine. High summer can feel a bit exposed and windswept.

Access appears to be free and there's no obvious booking requirement, though parking can be tight in peak season. Allow a couple of hours if you're taking it seriously with binoculars, less if you just want fresh air and a stretch of the legs. It's not flashy, but it's authentic Lancashire coast.
