Cnoc Eoghainn

The walk up Cnoc Eoghainn isn't long, but it's steep enough to get the blood moving. This modest peak sits above Tarbert in Argyll, offering proper views across the Kintyre peninsula and out towards the islands if the weather plays ball. On a clear day you can see for miles - the kind of visibility that makes the effort worthwhile.

It's not a slog that will wreck you. Most walkers will be up and down in under two hours from the road, which makes it ideal if you're after a decent leg-stretch without committing half your day. The path isn't waymarked perfectly, so you'll need to pay attention, but locals know it well enough. Families with older kids will manage it fine; younger ones might find the climb tedious.

The real appeal is that it doesn't feel busy. You'll likely have the summit to yourself, especially on weekdays or outside peak season. That's rare enough these days. The views reward the effort without being spectacular enough to draw coachloads of tourists.
