Co op Woods ,Heathfield

A patch of woodland on the edge of Heathfield that locals actually use rather than drive past. Co op Woods isn't dramatic - no clifftop views or dramatic vistas - but it's the sort of place that rewards a proper wander, particularly if you're staying at Dernwood Farm Glamping just down the road.

The trees themselves are the draw. It's mixed woodland, decent sized for the area, with paths that meander through rather than feel too manicured. Spring brings bluebells, autumn turns it golden. Kids will spend longer here than you'd expect, scrambling over fallen logs and hunting for sticks. It's not so massive that you get lost, which means families with younger children don't end up trudging for hours.

There's something honest about it - no visitor centre, no shop, no car park with a cafe. Just a wood. Depending on how muddy it's been, boots are sensible rather than optional. The paths are fairly clear but not paved, so don't expect buggies to work everywhere.

If you're based at one of the nearby glamping sites and the weather's turned a bit damp, this works as a half-hour leg-stretch rather than a full morning out. Combine it with exploring Heathfield town itself and you've got a decent afternoon. It's the sort of place that won't dominate your holiday plans, but you won't regret the detour either.
