Coate's Cavern

The entrance to Coate's Cavern sits tucked into the limestone landscape near Settle, and stepping inside feels like crossing into another world. It's a proper underground chamber - the sort of place where your eyes take a moment to adjust and the temperature drops noticeably. The cave itself is modest in scale compared to some of the showpiece caverns elsewhere in Yorkshire, but that's partly what makes it worth seeking out. No crowds, no tacky lighting rigs, just raw geology.
