Cobbler's Hole

The walk down to Cobbler's Hole is steep enough to get your legs working, but the payoff is absolutely worth it. You're descending into a proper little coastal inlet near Haverfordwest, where the cliffs cradle a secluded stretch of beach and the water sits in a neat pool at high tide. It's the sort of place that feels genuinely quiet - no gift shops, no coaching parties, just the sound of waves and your own footsteps on the path.

What makes it special is the geology. The rock formations are striking, all weathered layers and strange angles, and at the right light - late afternoon works brilliantly - they glow a burnt orange. You can scramble down to explore the beach itself, hunt for shells, or just sit on the sand and watch the tides work their way in and out. Low tide gives you far more room to roam; high tide squeezes things considerably.

Walkers get more from this than families with very small children, mainly because of that initial descent and the uneven ground underfoot. Teenagers and older kids will manage fine if they're used to a bit of terrain. Allow a good hour if you're dawdling, maybe ninety minutes if you're exploring properly.

Camp at Point Farm Campsite just 1.6 miles away and you're brilliantly positioned for this and the rest of the Pembrokeshire coast. It's one of those viewpoints that rewards the effort - not a quick photo stop, but a proper destination in itself.
